Milo Noone, an American journalist transitioning to civilian life after a 20-year Navy career, is not only facing midlife confusion under the Sicilian sun—he’s also hoping to revive his estranged marriage. Armed with quirky humor and an array of colorful characters, Milo sets out to navigate a tangled web of murderers, mobsters, and a growing entanglement with the CIA, all while trying to figure out how to rekindle the love that seems just out of reach.

Picture a quaint coffee bar and a make-do newspaper office in the charming fishing village of Aci Trezza. Here, Milo finds himself unraveling the past of Nunzio Gallo, an 80-year-old with secrets more twisted than a daytime drama. As the mysteries of Sicily unfold, Milo evolves from jaded columnist to passionate sleuth, all while holding onto the hope of mending his relationship with his wife.

Amidst discovering a CIA cover-up dating back to World War II and finding himself in a mafia tango, Milo’s journey is as unpredictable as a Mount Etna eruption. But, under the Sicilian sun, anything is possible—even love.

Praise for this book

Not going to lie, that phone was the funniest thing. Although kind of like Lombardo, I'd at least want to arrest that man 🤣🤣. This was so good. So many twists that I did not see coming. I knew some were involved because of background but wow. It really blew me away. And Santo, I feel for him. I hope there are going to be a lot more of these book. This was a great start to the series!

Very enjoyable humorous mystery with quite a few interesting characters and a great Sicilian setting. Milo’s wife sums it best by saying Milo is a “magnet to the preposterous”. I did enjoy the Italian phrases and culture dispersed through the book. I am looking forward to more adventures with Milo in Sicily.

Milo Noone, a recently retired Navy journalist, is a fun, if slightly quirky character. The setting of Sicily, Italy was what attracted me to this book. The humor kept me reading. Poor Milo is coping with a series of unfortunate events while trying to reunite with his wife and figure out what retirement means to him. He ends up in the thick of CIA intrigue, mobsters and former communists. I really enjoyed this book. I did get a little confused at times with all the different smaller characters, but the story kept me hooked. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. I will look for more by this author.

This book is more deep than the average cozy. It has many moving parts which keep the reader on their toes! Set in Europe it provides a look into other cultures which I like. It has humor and good descriptions.
